Lets Open The Lid On Hidden Toxins

This talk was targeted towards bringing awareness to some toxins in the household that we can start to get rid of, and replace with a few very simple, affordable ways to start to help pull heavy metals and toxins out of our bodies. These talks are aimed to inform but not overload — helping people feel more empowered to take control and responsibility of their own health, and helping families become better versions of themselves.

The conversation around toxins often feels scary or overwhelming — and I completely understand that. But the aim of this workshop wasn't to frighten anyone. It was to open people's eyes gently to the fact that many of the products we've been using for years — the cleaning sprays, the non-stick pans, the synthetic fragrances, the plastics we heat food in — carry a toxic burden that builds quietly over time. The body is incredibly resilient, but it has a threshold, and for many of us that threshold is already being tested.

Research tells us toxins are a contributory factor to poor mitochondrial health and increased inflammation levels, which can be a trigger and driver of many diseases, along with disrupting our hormones, mental health and mood. We may see this in the form of low energy, low libido, headaches, behavioural issues, stubborn weight gain, thyroid issues, autoimmunity, infertility, fibroids, cancer and skin issues — to name but a few.

What's particularly concerning is how normalised many of these symptoms have become. We accept low energy as part of modern life. We accept hormonal chaos as 'just how it is.' We manage weight gain, headaches and mood fluctuations with medication rather than asking what might be driving them. Toxins rarely appear as the obvious culprit — and that's exactly what makes them so important to understand.

Toxins, metals and excess false oestrogen (xenoestrogens) can increase oestrogen within the body, causing oestrogen dominance. This is a major driver for many cancers, can affect fertility, induce early puberty and make perimenopause very difficult. Many toxins can be contributing factors in our health today and in years to come. If we learn now, we can also bring the people of tomorrow up with an 'awake' consciousness of how they can help themselves remain healthy.

The good news — and there is genuinely good news — is that even small, gradual changes can make a meaningful difference. Swapping out the worst offenders one by one, supporting the body's natural detoxification pathways through diet, hydration and movement, and reducing the total toxic load over time gives the body a real chance to rebalance. We don't need to be perfect. We just need to be better informed. And once you know what to look for, it doesn't have to be expensive or complicated — there are brilliant, affordable alternatives to almost everything.

The response to this workshop was genuinely heartwarming. People left with questions — good questions — and a real sense of agency about their own health. That's everything. I have listed below a couple of key things mentioned in the talk and products you may wish to try. The full talk is on my YouTube channel, or reach out to me at enquiries@cforganicwellness.com and I will send you the link, should you want a recap or want to share with others. We want to make a movement to educate and help people connect some of the dots to why they feel the way they do — please spread the word.

Something I touched on in the talk that resonated with a lot of people was the idea of 'total toxic burden' — the cumulative load your body is carrying at any one time. No single product or exposure is likely to cause harm in isolation. But layer them up over a lifetime — plastics, synthetic fragrance, pesticide residues in food, heavy metals in cookware, chemicals in personal care products — and the body's detoxification systems can start to buckle under the weight. The liver, the gut and the lymphatic system are all working overtime to clear what's coming in, and when they can't keep up, symptoms emerge.

Children are particularly vulnerable because their detox pathways are still developing, their body weight is lower (so relative exposure is higher), and the habits formed in childhood tend to stick. Getting this information into schools, into parent groups, into workplaces — that's the mission. Small swaps made consistently, starting young, add up to something significant over a lifetime.
